Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are part of our company Core Values. Like great music, success requires bringing together diverse voices. We strive to be as inclusive as the music and creators that we represent. MICHAEL STICKA
PRESIDENT/CEO
Michael Sticka, President and CEO of the GRAMMY Museum Foundation™, is a visionary leader with a passion for music education and innovation. Since taking the helm in June 2018, he has made an indelible impact on the GRAMMY Museum®, transforming it to a thriving cultural institution that engages audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Under Sticka's leadership, the Museum has produced more than 80 public programs and concerts annually, impacting over 50,000 K-12 students through its education programs and curating renowned exhibitions covering a diverse range of genres, artists and content. He successfully merged the GRAMMY Foundation and GRAMMY Museum to create the GRAMMY Museum Foundation, blending the cultures of both organizations to scale its programmatic impact. Thanks to his efforts, the Museum achieved double-digit, year-over-year revenue growth in key areas of its mission in just one year.
In 2019, Sticka raised funding for and oversaw a multimillion-dollar renovation of the Museum in downtown Los Angeles, which included the creation of the only gallery in California dedicated to Latin music. He also recruited some of music's biggest stars to co-chair the recently launched Campaign for Music Education, which seeks to further endow the Museum's education programs.
Recognizing the critical role of the Board of Directors, Sticka partnered with the Board to lead the most significant governance overhaul in the Museum's history. Among these changes was the creation of the Nominating/Governance Committee, which established a formal process to recruit new board members who represent the diversity of the Museum's visitors and students, who are passionate about the organization's mission and its community.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Sticka led the Museum's team to create "GRAMMY Museum at Home," a collection of virtual exhibits, artist programs and educational content available for free to the public. Building upon that culture of innovation, the Museum launched COLLECTION:liveTM, the official streaming service of the GRAMMY Museum, which includes the recently launched Learning Hub, consisting of free online lesson plans and educational materials for students and teachers worldwide.
Sticka's career in the arts began as a box office associate and now spans 25+ years in the non-profit industry as a consultant and executive. His artistic passion led him to co-found a regional theatre company that produced innovative plays for schools, opera and philharmonic. He lives in Los Angeles with his partner, Brian, and their two dogs, Winston and Dante.
