Ska might be a household name these days but it wasn’t 25-plus years ago when groups of Southern California musicians and scenesters – inspired by the Jamaican grooves and British fashion of the ‘60s – dedicated themselves to a global genre and subculture to help kick start this revival. Five of the scene’s most prominent figures will gather for a special intimate panel discussion featuring a Q&A in the GRAMMY Museum’s Clive Davis Theater. Veteran singer Greg Lee (Hepcat), singer Persephone “Queen P” Laird (Ocean 11), bandleader/producer Joey Altruda (Jump With Joey), musician/recording engineer Brian Dixon (Aggrolites/See Spot/Rhythm Doctors), and promoter/producer/label owner Luis Correa (Steady Beat) will reminisce about the early years, discuss their influences, working with the legends, and much more. Radio host/emcee Junor Francis will moderate.
